Our hotel has a history of over 40 years as a cozy family business in the heart of Amsterdam. From 2021 to 2023, we carried out a comprehensive renovation to enhance our boutique style and sustainable approach and provide our guests with an even better experience. In May 2023, we reopened our doors.

Our cozy bar and lobby have also been completely refurbished, making it even cozier and more inviting. Here you can relax and enjoy a drink while feeling at home in our homely atmosphere.

History Hotel Nicolaas Witsen

Hotel Nicolaas Witsen is on Nicolaas Witsenstraat in Amsterdam, named after the influential diplomat and mayor who lived around 1700. Amsterdam expanded significantly over the centuries, with the hotel’s location once on the outskirts. Around 1850, a gas factory named ‘De Hollansche Gazfabriek’ stood there before housing replaced it. Today, Hotel Nicolaas Witsen is centrally located on the edge of the city center.
